Small Molecule Compounds
Small molecule compounds are naturally occurring or synthesized minuscule organic compounds that are used as tools in molecular biology and drug discovery. These molecules have been found to have therapeutic potential to treat a range of degenerative disorders and trauma states.
Small molecule compounds are ideal drug discovery candidates for neurodegenerative diseases. For example, oxidative damage from free radicals is one of the key problems in neurodegenerative diseases. Anti-oxidants in the form of small molecules can protect cells from oxidative damage and prevent the onset and development of the disease.
DaVinci Biosciences' research goals are to identify unknown mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, such as ALS, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease, explore target candidates for drug discovery, and develop proprietary small molecules that can confer neuroprotection against these debilitating disorders.
